Description

Rare Beatles Chester (UK) Riverpark Ballroom Concert Handbill (1962). The Beatles - John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and not quite yet Ringo Starr - were still honing their chops and paying their dues in the summer of 1962 at the time of this concert. It happened a week after John Lennon married Cynthia Powell and just as original drummer Pete Best was being dismissed in favor of Ringo Starr. For this concert, Johnny Hutchinson from The Big Three filled in. The flyer notes that the band was "Now Recording Exclusively for Parlophone" but the initial recording for the label would not be released for a few months. Of additional note is the opening band for the group, another major force in the soon-to-be British Invasion of 1964 - Gerry & The Pacemakers.

We've never seen another example of this flyer, and its somewhat fragile composition is undoubtedly a factor. Super-thin, it could be easily folded and stuffed in a wallet, as this copy appears to have been. Still, it's in remarkably good shape with only a few tiny holes along the fold-lines. It measures 7.5" x 9.5".
