Description

Patti Smith / Television 1974 Max's Kansas City Concert Poster. An original concert poster from New York City's famed Max's Kansas City venue for Patti Smith and Television for a week's worth of shows (two per night, six nights a week) commencing on Wednesday, August 28, 1974.

It's pretty cool the way this poster 'designer' chose to identify all the musicians by name. The young Patti was accompanied by Lenny Kaye on guitar and Richard Sohl on piano. This was the year Patti released her indie-label single "Hey Joe"/"Piss Factory." The following year, she signed to Arista.

Television, led by Tom Verlaine and considered influential in the development of punk and alternative music, was still three years away from releasing their important debut album, Marquee Moon.

Poster was printed on very thin white paper and measures 11" x 17" and grades to Very Good Plus with creases in the areas of lower left and lower right corners, more pronounced in the latter, and overall toning, with a little extra in the upper left corner area. COA from Heritage Auctions.
