Otis Redding 1964 Franklin, VA Jumbo Concert Poster. An original vintage window card advertising R&B great Otis Redding in concert at the Old Armory in Franklin, Virginia on Saturday night, February 1, 1964. The poster features a full-length shot of "The Big O" in a tuxedo and plugs his latest single at the time, "Pain in My Heart." That was also the title of his very first album, released the following month.

The appeal of this rare board is obvious... a one-off poster in a small town less than a year after Otis first hit the R&B charts, and jumbo in size, carrying his image no less. This simple broadside, the only one ever seen, is as primitive and gritty as it gets, perfectly matching the feeling of the music.

Measures 22" x 28" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The four corners have all been professionally repaired/restored, as have a couple of one-inch tears to the direct right of "G" in "Redding." On the left side, there's a four-inch horizontal crease/tear through Otis's pants which was mended. Otherwise, the board has a lot of what we'll call long vertical "stress creases" scattered throughout, but none of which break color so are better observed on the verso. There are other instances of expert repair work, but suffice it to say that this window card has been lovingly restored by our world-class poster resto expert and now presents in strong, solid fashion.
