Nirvana/Skin Yard/Girl Trouble/The Fluid 11" x 17" HUB East Ballroom Concert Poster (ASUW Productions, 1989). An 11" x 17" poster for a killer four-band bill where Aberdeen's Nirvana opened. Nirvana did not have much material out at the time, aside from their "Love Buzz" single, which they played on this night at the University of Washington's HUB East Ballroom. Their debut album, Bleach, would not be out for a few months. Also on the bill were the influential local bands Girl Trouble and the Fluid. Skin Yard headlined, and Skin Yard member Jack Endino produced a number of influential recordings, including Nirvana's Bleach.

Nirvana had considerable excitement that continued to grow month after month. They were not some ordinary band. Even at this stage, the band was projected by many to go much further than most of their contemporaries. "The show starts at 8:30 p.m., and if you're going, don't be late -- Nirvana is opening for everybody and this Aberdeen group is the most important one you will ever see in your life," wrote Phil West in the The Daily, the University of Washington's newspaper. The venue was crammed, stage dives were aplenty, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic threw his bass at one point, and Kurt Cobain crashed into drummer Chad Channing's kit at the end of it. This was typical for Nirvana to do, and in only a few years, they would do this kind of stuff on a global scale. "It was like seeing Hendrix at the Monterey Pop Festival or The Beatles in 1964," West told The Daily in 2004. "There was this sense of something historical happening."

The word was, as a result of stage diving during the performance, and Nirvana destroying their instruments, shows at the HUB East Ballroom were temporarily suspended.

When we sold another copy of this poster in March 2019, it sold for $4,500. In Near Mint Minus condition with light creasing in various spots. COA from Heritage Auctions.
