Nirvana / Screaming Trees / Tad 1990 Portland Concert Poster Signed by Designer Steven Birch. Even though Screaming Trees were the headliner on this Friday night in February 1990 at the Pine Street Theatre, eyes were directed at Aberdeen's Nirvana, who had released their debut, Bleach, in 1989 on Sub Pop. Ten songs from this night were later officially released on a 2009 reissue of Bleach, including "Molly's Lips," "Been a Son," and "Spank Thru." In retrospect, this is one of the most desirable posters featuring Nirvana by collectors.

The momentum for Nirvana grew stronger with every move they made in the late 1980s and the early 1990s. Something that people couldn't put a finger on made people think (sarcastically and non-sarcastically) that this band would be huge. Not just as big as Sonic Youth or Hüsker Dü -- big as in, on the Billboard charts, on radio stations all over the world, and headlining stadiums. It was a bit laughable to think that in the peak of hair metal between 1987 and 1989, but Nirvana had a new sound that was way cooler to those who thought every band had to have two guitarists and complex, classical-tinged guitar solos in each song.

Poster measures 11" x 17". Offset printed. Signed by designer Steven Birch (aka, "Mr. Steve") on verso in pencil. In Near Mint Minus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Has pin holes in each corner, along with smudge transfers on verso.
