    Description

    Nightingales + 2 Detroit 1971 Gospel Music Jumbo Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising a big "3-Way Song Battle" gospel music performance at the King Solomon Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan on Sunday, October 24, 1971. Participants included the Nightingales out of Philadelphia, the Pilgrim Jubilees from Chicago, and the Southernaires of Jackson, Mississippi. Fun how this advertising board describes them as "Sensational," "Well Known" and "Popular," respectively, give or take a typo.

    Measures 22" x 28 1/4" and grades to Very Good condition. Four ill-placed nail holes kept this condition down; on "14th" in upper left, "24" in upper right, center of the group photo in lower left, and on "Pastor" in lower right. Also some overall toning from age, especially around the four borders. And "Detroit, Mich. (1971)" written on the back in ink pen. COA from Heritage Auctions.
