Neil Diamond 1970 Amarillo, Texas Large Paper Concert Poster. A very unusual and extra large Neil Diamond concert poster for the Uni Records singer just a short while before he exploded into his Hot August Night era. This is from Amarillo, Texas for the evening of Saturday, August 29, 1970.

Neil fans certainly will love the fact that he's pictured four times on this poster. The predominant head shot is accompanied by a screened-back, full-length body shot off to the right. And the square photos of Neil performing in concert are the front and back covers of his 1969 album Touching You, Touching Me with all the print information removed.

Neil's brand new album, however, was Neil Diamond Gold: Recorded Live at the Troubadour, which had just been released. It would prove to be the future superstar's first Top 10 album. And Neil's current #1 smash hit at the time of this show was "Cracklin' Rosie," which would be included on his next album, Tap Root Manuscript, released later in 1970.

Interesting to see the high-profile involvement of local Amarillo radio and television stations on the poster as well.

Measures 23 ½" x 35" and grades to Very Good condition for overall toning and fragility due to its age, a significantly crumpled upper left edge, several small nicks of paper missing around the edges, light crumpling along the lower left edge, slightly torn corners with small cello tape bit in each one, a one-inch tear which goes into the small B&W left-hand photo, and general overall handling from age. COA from Heritage Auctions.
