Description
Muddy Waters Memorial Auditorium Concert Poster (1954). Rare. Window card tour blank poster for "5 Star Rhythm & Blues Revue", Chattanooga, Tues. Nov. 16. The line up of greats features "The Sensational '5-10-15 Hours' Girl Ruth Brown, Charles Brown, Ray Charles & His Orchestra, Lowell Fulsom [sic]" and "'Hootchy Kootchy [sic] Man' Muddy Waters And His Band". Printed by "Globe Poster, Baltimore". Measures 22" x 28". In Very Good Minus condition. Lower 4" section of poster is restored with touched-in areas, particularly to image of Muddy Waters and "And His Band" lettering. There is a partial 2" tear across the upper left corner, corners rounded.To our knowledge this is the first time that this poster has been offered at auction. There are several spelling mistakes, most notably Lowell Fulson's name is misspelled "Fulsom". Another poster in this auction from 1953 (see lot 89204) shows Fulson as the headline act, with the correct spelling of his name!
