Miles Davis / Aretha Franklin / Redd Foxx 1962 Brooklyn, NY Concert Handbill. An original vintage paper flyer for a "Great Jazz Spectacular" starring Miles Davis & His Group, Olatunji & His African Group, emerging songstress Aretha Franklin, naughty comedian Redd Foxx and blues shouter / saxophone great Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson. This was a big weekend over February 9, 10 & 11, 1962, with not just a single evening show, but "Continuous Shows Daily - Doors Open Early." What a chance to see several legends!

Miles' current album was Someday My Prince Will Come, with his gorgeous wife Frances gracing the LP cover. John Coltrane played tenor saxophone on the nine-minute title track, and this was the only Miles album to feature Hank Mobley, also on tenor sax.

Aretha Franklin 1.0 was still in her Columbia Records phase and actually, her third Top 10 R&B hit, "Operation Heartbreak," had just dropped off the charts at this point. But she wouldn't hit the charts again for three years, and it would be five before she exploded on Atlantic.

Measures 6" x 9" and grades to Very Good condition. Paper missing in the upper left corner, where there's also extra browning, a 2 ½" crease and "1962" written in pencil. Half-inch edge tear in the upper right as well, accompanied by another crease. Three small brown spots in upper right text area (following "N.Y.", "11" and "In Person"). Standard toning throughout. COA from Heritage Auctions.
