THEIR NEXT TWO SINGLES: "RESPECT YOURSELF" & "I'LL TAKE YOU THERE"

Mavis Staples & the Staple Singers 1971 Jumbo Globe Concert Poster. A wonderfully large and topical Day-Glo concert poster for a "Black Freedom Festival" held over the three-day Labor Day holiday weekend in Swanton, Ohio in September 1971, starring Mavis Staples and the Staple Singers. Alternating green & orange florescent colors really make this one a standout, plus the fact that it's nearly three feet tall.

And what a time it was for Mavis, Pops and the crew... their next two singles released after this would be "Respect Yourself" and "I'll Take You There," the two signature songs of their entire career. Mavis, who continues to perform to this day, is a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Blues Hall of Fame.

Measures 22" x 35 1/8" and grades to Very Good Plus with about a dozen sets of staple holes throughout, which are completely unobtrusive on the front and are usually detected only by holding the poster up to the light. Upper left corner creased from a ding, and a little bit of surface grime and a couple of marks, but really it's in basically stellar condition. Only those invisible staple holes prevent us from using any of the "mint" grades. Also, "Michigan (Flint) 1971" written on verso. COA from Heritage Auctions.
