    Description

Lynyrd Skynyrd 1972 Macon, GA Pre-First-Album Concert Handbill. A handbill for a very young Lynyrd Skynyrd playing in Macon, GA at an opera house known as the Grand. The Southern rock giants had yet to have an album out the record store shelves. (Pronounced 'Leh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd would not arrive until the summer of 1973.)

Playing an opera house with Birnam Wood, Climax, and Captain Rock with a capacity around 1,000, the quintet played on the same place where vaudeville acts and Harry Houdini once graced. The group would be world renowned thanks to their debut album and the classics "Tuesday's Gone," "Gimme Three Steps," "Simple Man," and the immortal "Free Bird."

Measures 8 1/2" x 11" and grades to Very Good condition. Flyer was folded down into eighths, most noticeable by the horizontal crease through the center intersecting "Lynyrd." No color broken anywhere from the folds. Quarter-inch margin tear at the very top center, and an eighth-inch margin tear to the right of "14" which is all but lost in the flowers. Toning throughout, getting stronger at the bottom. COA from Heritage Auctions.
