Lowell Fulson & Lloyd Glenn 1953 Sunset Terrace Ballroom / Indianapolis Concert Poster. An original vintage window card for blues legend Lowell Fulson and his pianist Lloyd Glenn, both pioneers of the "West Coast blues style," in concert at the Sunset Terrace Ballroom in Indianapolis, Indiana on Monday, June 1, 1953. "Early birds" paid just $1.00 each, a price which doubled if you just showed up at the door.

Fulson - alternate spelling Fulsom, after a record company accidentally misspelled his name on a record label - was a legendary blues vocalist/guitarist. Both Ray Charles and saxophonist Stanley Turrentine passed through his band at one time or another. The Swing Time Records star took "Blue Shadows," his biggest hit, to the top of the R&B charts for a full month in 1950, so it's nice that song is plugged on the poster.

Also listed above Lowell's name is "Old Time Shuffle Blues," abbreviated by one word, a #3 R&B hit for him in 1950; and "Sinners Progress," a corruption of the song "Sinner's Prayer," co-written by Fulson and Glenn and recorded by Lowell in early 1950.

Great coloring on this poster, too, with the red & green jumping off the board in contrast to the black & white (making it truly a four-color window card). This is the first example of this rarity that Heritage has been able to offer since 2002, when it sold for $1,856.

Poster measures 14" x 21 ½" and grades to Very Good condition. Four little drops of paint above the "W" in Lowell, and some more in the upper left margin (starting next to "May 30th"). No attempt has been made to remove them. Crease in lower left corner across Glenn's face. Also creases in upper and lower right corners. Also a black mark in upper left corner, and small marks of a different nature in upper right margin area. General overall toning and light handling, but no pinholes, tape residue, writing or fading. COA from Heritage Auctions.
