Jimi Hendrix 1960's Martin Sharp "Explosion" Head Shop Poster. A brilliantly colorful poster by famous Australian pop-artist Martin Sharp of Jimi Hendrix letting it rip on guitar, which is often nicknamed "Explosion" for obvious reasons. We're also running Sharp's Bob Dylan psychedelic poster in this auction. Sharp established himself as Australia's foremost pop artist in the 1960's, creating posters like this and also designing the legendary psychedelic album covers for Cream's Disraeli Gears and Wheels of Fire. And how's this for a tidbit: Sharp co-wrote Cream's "Tales of Brave Ulysses" with Eric Clapton. Glossy on both sides, this poster measures 27 1/2" x 36 3/4" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Just the standard amount of handling due to its age, with a little bit of edge wear and creased corners all the way around. Upper left corner has a two-inch vertical crease right off the edge which breaks the orange, red and blue color. Likewise broken color on the bottom two corners. Otherwise almost all general, light surface handling creases inside the borders is lost in the busy artwork. Would frame up spectacularly.
