    Description

Jerry Lee Lewis 1958 Morehead, KY "Tobacco Warehouse" Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising an appearance by The Killer himself, Jerry Lee Lewis, in Morehead, Kentucky on Friday, September 19, 1958. "The Nation's Most Dynamic Entertainer," the board proclaims, and few could argue with that, except maybe Little Richard fans.

Great action headshot of Lewis next to his name in huge letters. 1958 was Jerry Lee's last big, important year as a rock 'n' roller; he charted five Sun Records singles on Billboard's pop chart this year, including "Breathless" and "High School Confidential."

Also on the bill were the Casual-Teens, Bobby One and Alan Marlo "from the Ed Sullivan Show." Great to have this two-tone blue coloring, an unusual combo for Hatch Show Print to use.

Measures 13 7/8" x 21 7/8" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The board was quarter-folded down to fit into a file cabinet at Hatch Show Print. The horizontal crease shows more than the vertical one, going right through the singer's upper lip and breaking color at that exact point, as well as a few other tiny places. The vertical breaks a little color around the "11:30" and above "Person."

On the verso, the horizontal crease cracks the cardboard all the way across, making it quite easy – but risky – to fold the poster in half. There's no danger of detachment, but the board's structural integrity is a bit compromised on this crease. The new owner would probably want to either reinforce it with tape or frame the poster for safekeeping. Poster also has some light natural toning, and a small "58" is written in pen on the verso.
