Description

Human Be-In "A Gathering of the Tribes" Signed Event Poster (1967). "Bring flowers, beads, costumes, feathers..." It was the big awaking of the Hippie culture, as young people from all over the country, dissatisfied with the political mood of the country, descended on liberal-thinking San Francisco in droves. Soon they would be calling it the "Summer of Love" and all would be blissful and sweet... until things started to turn "heavy." For this peaceful gathering, all was beautiful. Speeches were made -- Allen Ginsberg, Timothy Leary, and more. Music was played -- the Dead, the Airplane, and others. Free food by the Diggers was provided. This poster, sometimes referred to as the "Third Eye" design, has been signed by the artist, Stanley Mouse. The poster measures approximately 14" x 20" and is in VG+ condition, with edge toning and light staining along the upper corner.
