Description

Harry James "America's No. 1 Trumpeter" 1941 Erie, PA Concert Poster. An original vintage window card advertising legendary bandleader and trumpeter Harry James and his Orchestra playing at the Rainbow Gardens of the Erie Pitt Center in Erie, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, April 16, 1941. This poster is highlighted by a terrific "shadow effect" on the surface behind Harry, so popular a design that it was actually used for years as a "tour blank," often printed in other colors like orange or red. Still, it's very tough to find in any color. Measures 14" x 22" and grades to Very Good condition. From the Jim Cook Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Poster was once missing its two bottom corner tips, which have been carefully restored by Chameleon Restoration. There are four pinholes across the top and one in bottom center. The board took a ding in the white to the right of "Y" in "Harry" causing a slight, unaddressed breakthrough hole, very small like a pinhole, and a smaller ding on the "E" in "James." Very tiny tip of the upper right corner missing. General toning throughout.
