Description
Grateful Dead "Skeleton & Roses" Ltd-Ed Lithograph Signed by Stanley Mouse & Alton Kelley. A large and super-high-quality 2008 Rhino limited-edition lithograph of Mouse & Kelley's famous "Skeleton & Roses" artwork that adorns the wildly popular FD-26 concert poster. This is the poster image minus the ticket-buying information at the bottom. In its place there is "131/350" plus Kelley and Mouse's signatures in pencil. Printed on extremely thick and elegant white paper. Rolled for now, and will look stunning when framed.A 1966 first-printing specimen of the "Skeleton & Roses" poster, graded 9.6 and from the KC Murphy Bindweed Press Collection, just sold at Heritage for $137,500 on April 16. So here's a chance to pick up a memorable lithograph of the same great artwork, and signed by Mouse and Kelley to boot, at a much more affordable price.
Measures 30" x 41 1/2" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. Has a 3 ½" vertical crease in the upper right edge, by the corner, entirely in the white of course. Also some creasing on the lower left edge. There's just a bit of very light browning under Kelley's name and the very slightest smear of the pencil in Mouse's little mouse face, almost to be expected. There is also a very tiny, rigid 1/8" edge tear down from Mouse's name where the edge was dinged by something small. That tiny tear is the only issue which knocked it out of any 'mint' category, by requirement. The image area remains flawless, robust and with deep, bright colors. COA from Heritage Auctions.
