DescriptionGrateful Dead / Country Joe & the Fish Straight Theater Concert Poster AOR-2.220 (1967). Original printing on thin, white stock, designed by artist Frank Melton, advertising the shows of the opening weekend of the Straight Theater on Haight Street in San Francisco. From July 21 through 23, 1967 several prominent acts of the time could be found at these shows, including: Grateful Dead, Blue Cheer, Country Joe & the Fish, Charlatans, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and others. Measures approximately 19" x 25". In Very Good condition, with some creasing, chipped edges, light toning, handling wear, and blue felt pen markings near the show dates.

More Information: Arguably the most political figure associated with 1967's "Summer of Love," Country Joe McDonald led Country Joe and the Fish, a Psych/Folk Rock act that was an influential part of the late-1960s San Francisco music scene. Formed in 1965, Country Joe and the Fish began as a Folk duo heavily influenced by the work of Woody Guthrie. Soon, they were a full-fledged electric Rock act. McDonald used his music as a something of a political platform, protesting the establishment and the Vietnam War. In 1967, the band released their second studio album,
