A BG -134 first printing poster by Lee Conklin for the Grateful Dead at Fillmore West, August 27-September 1, 1968. Measures 14" x 21", in Good condition with touch-ups added to the lion's eyes, teeth and "Dead "lettering, wear to edges and corners. 2. A BG-113 original poster by Dana W. Johnson for a Country Joe and the Fish show at the Fillmore dated March 28-30, with opening acts Steppenwolf and Flamin' Groovies. The poster is signed in black felt pen "Country Joe McDonald Peace & Love". Measures 14" x 21". In Very Good condition with creases and wear, particularly to lower left corner, slight paper loss to lower edge, some toning. 3. A BG-120 original poster by Weisser for Country Joe and The Fish and Incredible String Band at the Fillmore, May 16-18, 1968. The poster is similarly signed by Country Joe in black felt pen. Measures 14" x 21". In Very Good Plus condition with minor wear to corners and edges. 4. A BG-59 poster by Peter Bailey for Country Joe And The Fish at Fillmore Auditorium, April 14-15, 1967, with opening act Loading Zone, This poster is also signed by Country Joe. Measures 13.25" x 21.75". In Near Mint Minus condition with minor wear to corners. COAs from Country Joe And The Fish And Heritage Auctions.

    Arguably the most political figure associated with 1967's "Summer of Love," Country Joe McDonald led Country Joe and the Fish, a Psych/Folk Rock act that was an influential part of the late-1960s San Francisco music scene. Formed in 1965, Country Joe and the Fish began as a Folk duo heavily influenced by the work of Woody Guthrie. Soon, they were a full-fledged electric Rock act. McDonald used his music as a something of a political platform, protesting the establishment and the Vietnam War. In 1967, the band released their second studio album, I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die. The LP's title track is to- this-day considered the ultimate Vietnam War protest song, and was written by McDonald in twenty minutes for an anti-war theatrical play. Aside from being an instant classic of a protest song, coupled with "The 'Fish' Cheer," it is essentially Woodstock's defining moment. Country Joe's post-Fish career has been incredibly prolific, with nearly three-dozen albums released since 1969. Acerbic and original where many acts of the day were glorified pop groups, Country Joe McDonald is a countercultural icon.
