Description

Grateful Dead Concert Poster First Printing Signed By Mouse & Kelley FD-26 (Family Dog, 1966). First printing, identified by a rectangular dark blue area to the left of the skull. This classic poster designed by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley, incorporates an illustration taken from the "The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam", a Nineteenth Century publication of Arabian poetry. The poster advertises a series of shows in September, 1966 at the Avalon Ballroom, San Francisco. Mouse and Kelley have signed the poster along the bottom edge in pencil. Measures 14" x 20". In Near Mint Minus condition. The poster was originally dry mounted, and has been expertly removed from the mount. The only signs of this are traces of adhesive residue to the reverse, that in no way affect the overall appearance of this fantastic poster. There are traces of stray blue and red ink spotting to the white borders. There is minor wear to the corners and edges, in particular a small crease across the lower right corner. COA from Heritage Auctions.

This Grateful Dead "Skeleton And Roses" posters is one of the most recognizable and coveted psychedelic posters of all time. This is the first time that Heritage has ever offered the first printing of this poster.
