Description

Grateful Dead 1982 Austin, Texas "Manor Downs" Concert Poster Graded 9.8 (AOR-4.159). A fun, charismatic poster for a Grateful Dead show at the Manor Downs racetrack near Austin, Texas on Saturday night, July 31, 1982. Featuring artwork by Micael Priest, this is very reverent to the style the Dead were known for with their posters, but with a 1980's twist. Printed on glossy card stock, this small-ish poster measures 11 ¼" x 16 ½" and was graded to a beautiful 9.8 Near Mint/Mint by CGC (the Certified Guaranty Company). COA from Heritage Auctions.

Literature: See Grushkin, Paul, The Art of Rock: Posters from Presley to Punk, Abbeville Press, New York, 1987, p.383 (illus.).

More Information: Notice each skull (one human, one animal) having a gold tooth, the sugar cube of acid the man is holding, and the gold roses scattered throughout. "Furlong Productions and KLBJ-FM Present," it says at the top. And at the bottom, "Gate Open 6 PM, Show Starts 9 PM."

The two-set evening featured such beloved tunes such as "Alabama Getaway," "Fire on the Mountain" and "Truckin'."
