PIGPEN DOMINATES ANOTHER RARE DEAD POSTER

Grateful Dead 1969 Purdue University, Indiana Concert Poster. An original pre-show concert poster advertising the Grateful Dead and George Stavis playing in the North Union Ballroom of Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana on Friday night, April 18, 1969.

Due to its great looks, this poster has been reprinted, with bootlegs appearing all over the Internet. But this is the Real McCoy, as exemplified by its obviously genuine patina and the presence of an "MPU" rubber stamp ("something Purdue University"?) which says "Remove" and then 4/19 written in by hand with an initial. As befitting cluttered college-campus bulletin boards, that date signified when the poster was no longer useful and could be torn down and discarded.

Handsomely printed in black and green ink on thick beige paper that closely resembles card stock, this first-ever Heritage offering measures 18 1/8" x 22 1/4" and grades to restored Very Good condition. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Chameleon Restoration addressed a few edge and corner issues, touching up any printing where necessary, mending tears or pinholes, eradicating surface blemishes and greatly reducing any creasing it might have had. The result is a fully satisfying piece that gives off a perfect, aged patina. Notice the presence of a stamp in the lower right margin, followed by a date and initial. This is not considered damage, it is part of the original posting.
