Description

Genesis 1987 Italy Multi-Date Concert Poster. A large color poster for two concerts featuring the great Genesis during their worldwide tour behind their blockbuster Invisible Touch. The band was a pop supergroup, with drummer/lead vocalist Phil Collins juggling a successful solo career at the same time.

With founding members Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford a long ways away from being an acclaimed progressive rock band, the band always wanted to have hit singles. They enjoyed those hits throughout the 1980s, especially with Invisible Touch, which gave the world the title track, "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight," "In Too Deep," and "Throwing It All Away."

Despite being in the age of MTV making or breaking you with image at the center, the older guys in Genesis knew how to have a sense of humor and connect with the younger audience. Rather than reproducing the cover artwork for Invisible Touch, here is Tony, Mike, and Phil front and center.

Plugging two shows in Italy on this poster (one in Rome and one in Mailand), records show the Mailand show actually happened on May 15th (and not the 17th). Playing stadiums with a blend of their pop hits and lengthy progressive tunes (some originally done with original lead vocalist Peter Gabriel), the band balanced their past and present.

Measures 26 ½" x 38 ½". In Very Good Plus condition with creasing in various spots and bumped/folded corners. COA from Heritage Auctions.
