Description

Gene Vincent Community Hall Concert Poster (1958). Extremely Rare. Window card printed in Dayglo orange and black on card stock for a show in Coquille, OR, on Fri. June 6th. The poster announces "Gene / Vincent / and his Blue Caps", and features artwork showing Vincent's 'floating' head with recent hit songs in the background including ""Be-Bop A Lula" / "Lotta Loving" / "You Told A Fib" / "Blue Jean Bop" / "Bi Bickey Bi" and "Wear My Ring". Printed by "Tilghman Press...Oak." Measures 14" x 22". In Very Good Plus condition with some surface scratches and scuffs, minor loss to some of the black lettering, toning line across the top edge of the poster, 0.5" cut to right edge, two tape marks to upper edge, reverse shows spattering of black and white paint, and a calculation written in pencil.

This is the first time that Heritage has ever offered an example of this poster. Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps were true pioneers of Rockabilly music who came to prominence with the classic "Be Bop A Lu La", a number 7 hit in 1956. Vincent was inducted in to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
