Gene Autry 1949 Hope, Arkansas Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising cowboy legend Gene Autry - "The Screen's Singing Cowboy" - performing at the Saenger Theatre in Hope, Arkansas on Saturday, April 30, 1949.

A really fun poster that harkens back to movie posters of the era, this yellow-and-purple board features a great painting of the legend smiling, as well as a cowboy on the back of a rearing horse. "He's your straight-shootin', sweet-singin', favorite son of the saddle," the poster proclaims.

As far as the charts go, this was the era where Autry could be counted on to have a big Christmas record or two every holiday season. The year before, in 1948, he hit the nation's Top 5 with "Here Comes Santa Claus." This year, in '49, he reached the #1 spot with "Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer." And in Christmas 1950, he went Top 5 with "Frosty the Snow Man." Et cetera.

Measures 14" x 22" and grades to Very Good Minus condition. Water stains at the top (avoiding the lettering), upper right corner and lower right corner area. Some of the board missing from upper right corner. Three-inch crease in lower left corner. Seven inches of vertical creasing along lower right edge. Verso has some kind of harmless 'splash mark' at the top and a sticker in the lower left corner, probably easily removed. There's also a small flap on the bottom edge under "Music And" that's been mended with clear cello tape. COA from Heritage Auctions.
