Description

FD-68 Janis Joplin/Big Brother & Holding Co. 1967 Poster Signed by Victor Moscoso, Graded 9.4. A first-printing San Francisco concert poster for Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Mount Rushmore and Horns of Plenty at the Avalon Ballroom on Thursday, June 29 thru Sunday, July 2, 1967. Known as FD-68 in the Family Dog numbered series, this poster was hand-signed by its creator, Victor Moscoso, and was subsequently graded to 9.4 Near Mint condition by CGC (the Certified Guarantee Company).

Moscoso is considered one of the "big five" of San Francisco's famous psychedelic concert-poster designers, and he neatly signed this poster right alongside his original printed credit, down in the lower right corner. Um... the lower right corner, we should say, when the poster is presented vertically. The presence of two horizontally configured ticket-information strips, however - one green, the other blue - turns this poster on its ear and basically allowed for three totally acceptable ways for heads to display it up on their wall.

Measures 14" x 20 1/4" and graded 9.4 Near Mint by CGC. COA from Heritage Auctions.
