Description

Family Dog Original 1965-66 Pre-Famous-Logo Business Card. An original business card for The Family Dog concert promoter dating from late 1965 to early '66 before Chet Helms took over the name and began hosting concerts at the Fillmore (followed shortly by the Avalon). This business card features the same type font for the Family Dog found on early 1966 posters and handbills when Rock Scully was the temporary steward of the Family Dog. The Charlatans' Rock and Roll Ball at California Hall is one example where this Family Dog style appears. The card has just the company name and a phone number, without area code.

The card has been double-matted and framed by the consignor, but is easily removed from the frame because it was placed in a stiff plastic baseball-card like holder before being framed. And the frame and mat assembly itself is all very user-friendly and taken apart in seconds, for further examination of the card.

The card itself measures 2" x 3 1/2" and grades to Very Good condition. The frame measures 7" x 10". It's obviously hard to grade a business card with the same standards as a concert poster, but suffice it to say the card's verso is blank and of the same color the front is, and there is no apparent damage anywhere. COA from Heritage Auctions.
