Elvis Costello & Attractions Fully Autographed 1977 Concert Poster.
A Columbia Records promo poster for Elvis Costello's first album, My Aim Is True, converted to a concert poster by The Stone Pony nightclub in Asbury Park, NJ, and then fully autographed by Elvis and all three Attractions backstage after the show.

The date was Friday night, December 16th, 1977 - the night before Elvis appeared on Saturday Night Live and famously switched his song performance from "Less Than Zero" to "Radio Radio." The Stone Pony had created this concert poster for their own benefit by simply writing the concert date and ticket prices on the promo poster with a green marker, and then posted it inside the club. "Tickets $3.00 in advance, $4.00 at door."

This was Costello's first American tour (aside from a Live Stiffs package tour) and his debut album had been out in America for about a month. The original owner of this poster attended the show, took it down afterwards and walked it backstage for the band to sign.

Regarding the signatures, "Elvis Costello" is the biggest and boldest, right off his left hip. Clockwise from there, keyboardist Steve Naïve, who was known for using different names at times, signed "Steve Young" between Elvis's legs. "Peter Thomas Drums" is signed right above "Tickets." And "Bruce Thomas" is signed right off Elvis's left shoulder. All four were done in ballpoint pen so they don't jump out at you, but they're not faded either, they're very clearly visible.

Poster measures 20" x 30" and is in distressed condition, with paper loss in the upper left and middle right; several tears at the top including a seven-inch tear down from the top center, all Scotch-taped on the back; many pinholes in each corner; and innumerable small surface creases throughout the poster. Obviously not a condition play, this is a punk-history play with a tremendous story and provenance that captures an important 20th century rock star at the very beginning of his career, with his 1977 debut-album masterpiece as the backdrop.
