Description
Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie 1965 Carnegie Hall, New York City Pamphlet/Handbill. An original four-page pamphlet/flyer for Norman Granz' famous Jazz at the Philharmonic series, which is humbly billed as the "World's Greatest Jazz Concert" - but who would argue? A really classy and cool design highlight this piece, done in orange & black. It even had a 'tour-blank' element to it, with date-by-date information added to the blank white box at bottom front. In this case, it's a home run... prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City, for two shows on Saturday night, September 18, 1965.Appearing were Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Buddy Rich, Roy Eldridge, Buddy DeFranco, Bill Harris, Ben Webster, Louis Bellson, Ray Brown, Herb Ellis, Flip Phillips and Don Abney. Quite a night... and notice that the second show didn't even start until midnight!
This first-ever Heritage offering measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and grades to Near Mint condition, for just a very small line of toning along the bottom edge of the back cover. COA from Heritage Auctions.
