    Description

Eddie Cochran / Frankie Lymon / The Coasters 1958 Honolulu, Hawaii Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising three classic acts of the 1950's with no filler whatsoever: Frankie Lymon (minus The Teenagers), The Coasters and Eddie Cochran appearing in Honolulu, Hawaii for seven concerts over three days in February 1958, when rock 'n' roll's first phase was still entirely in full swing.

The more you look at this poster, the more you realize how much it has going for it. Song titles are always nice on a vintage concert poster; how about 20 of them here? There are four classic rock 'n' roll movies mentioned, and three legendary TV shows. The lime green background and light orange lettering give it a distinctive look. And did you catch the ticket prices yet? $1.20 general admission, really? Boy, you can really tell this was rock 'n' roll's golden age. And of course, all three acts were first-ballot Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famers. There's even the element of tragedy involved here. Mr. Cochran perished in a car accident at the age of 21 after changing rock history with "Summertime Blues," "Twenty Flight Rock," "C'mon Everybody" and "Somethin' Else." And Mr. Lymon died at age 25 of a heroin overdose.

Measures 14" x 22" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Poster has some surface water damage, most notably along the bottom edge and lower right corner area, under the "ST" of "Stars" at the top, and to the right of "Why Do Fools Fall in Love." A little bit of foxing appears at the bottom as well. Light surface marking around the first and last letters of Frankie Lymon's name. A small, unusually shaped ¼" hole under the "Young Blood" bullet point. All corners are soft, bumped and creased, the lower left being strongest (but perfectly fine in the context of this board and its overall condition). Verso has a couple of white water stains and 4-5 little gouges or bug nibbles, one producing the hole seen on the front. And also white water staining along the bottom edge.
