Description
Doors, Yardbirds 1967 BG-75 Bill Graham Fillmore Concert Poster, First Printing (AOR) An original first printing of one of the Summer of Love's most beloved concert posters... The Yardbirds on the first three nights and The Doors on the second three nights in July 1967 at Bill Graham's Fillmore Auditorium. The two consistent opening acts were the James Cotton Blues Band and Richie Havens. The poster artist was Bonnie MacLean, the wife of promoter Graham at the time. The poster's subtlety and gentleness, combined with the bands on it, make it widely considered one of the best posters of the psychedelic era.
This was one of the Yardbirds' last shows with both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck playing guitar, before Beck quit the band. As for the Doors, their "Light My Fire" career-defining single entered the #1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 the very week of these shows.
Poster measures 14 x 21 1/4" and the mat 18 1/8 x 28 3/8". Poster grades to Very Good with three imperfections: most notably it was dry-mounted down to a board and white mat for framing (no framing parts are included, just what you see); there's a small, light water stain in the upper left corner; and an errant pencil or pen mark bottom center near the first green dot. None of these detract from one of the most beautiful posters of the psychedelic era. COA from Heritage Auctions.
