Description

Dolly Parton/Porter Wagoner Grand Ole Opry Century II Convention Hall Concert Poster (circa 1969). Window card tour blank printed on card stock for a show in Wichita, Saturday December 27. The poster shows photos of the four headline acts: "Porter Wagoner, 'Green Green Grass Of Home', Tex Ritter, 'Hall of Fame Member' - 'High Noon' - Dolly Parton, 'No.1 Girl Singer, RCA-Victor Recording Artist'" and Le Roy Van Dyke, "The Auctioneer". Measures 14" x 22". In Near Mint Minus condition with general toning commensurate with age, minor creases and wear to edges and corners.

This concert poster shows a young Dolly Parton early in her career. By 1969 she had had enjoyed much chart success as a duo with Porter Wagoner. They were voted Best Vocal Group at the 1968 Country Music Association Awards and Parton was a regular on the Porter Wagoner Show. However, Parton was yet to break the charts as a solo artist, though that recognition soon came, with her breakthrough hit in 1970 "Muleskinner Blues".
