Description

Delfonics, Stylistics Autographed 1972 New York Jumbo Globe Concert Poster. An original, large cardboard window card advertising a big soul/R&B happening on Christmas day/night in 1972 in New York City. "Continuous Shows... 8:00 PM 'til 4:00 AM," it unusually says. Headliners were the Delfonics and Stylistics, followed by the Dramatics, Moments and Black Ivory. Everyone gets pictures, song titles and Day-Glo colors. Being New York, a whole slew of ticket-buying locations are given. And the back is a really fun bonus... the board was autographed by William Hart, the lead vocalist, songwriter, producer and arranger of the Delfonics; he wrote "La La" before his name and "Delfonics" after. Three other musicians from the evening also signed the verso in bold black marker. Measures 22" x 35 3/8" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The large board has the usual light-brown toning around the four margin areas. Three of the corners are rounded and soft, and the upper left corner has 3 ½" and 1 ½" diagonal creases. There's also a 4 ½" horizontal crease under "York City" which breaks a little of the green color. It continues on in lighter fashion to the poster's edge, intersecting "25" but not breaking the black. The poster has some overall handling and light marks in places, such as a couple of scratches in the "M" in "Manhattan" and in the green under "St.," things like that; just examine the picture. The bottom edge has some push-wear along the very edge, either from the printer or when pressure was once applied. The board also has a small amount of waviness, or warping, in the top third of the poster, meaning it still lies flat but not 100% flat in that area.
