    Description

Dave Clark Five 1964 Kansas City, MO Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising England's Dave Clark Five near the end of their ridiculously successful first year in America, playing a show in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, November 8, 1964. This highly informational and fun poster not only gives us a big photo of the British Invasion group, but also lists two of their albums and a single next to the Epic Records logo. All the DC5 did in '64 was rack up seven Top 20 hits in the U.S., as compared to just one for the Rolling Stones. Measures 14" x 22" and grades to restored Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions, Repair Work by Chameleon Restoration.

More Information: With lead vocalist Mike Smith and company (the DC5), we always love to rattle off the hits when it's a 1964 poster of theirs. Ready for those Top 20 hits, all in '64? OK: "Glad All Over," "Bits and Pieces," "Do You Love Me," "Can't You See That She's Mine," "Because," "Everybody Knows (I Still Love You)" and this writer's favorite, "Any Way You Want It."

And we love to tweak our Rolling Stones friends and point out that Mick Jagger and company had only one this year (in America). And how about the Beatles? Um... get out your calculator: Fifteen of them. Never mind.

Unusually, this board has an AFL/CIO union bug down in the bottom center margin.

Condition details: The board once had damage and material missing from three corner areas, including some wording, which have been painstakingly brought back to life by Chameleon Restoration. In the bottom center, the repair work on a tear extends up into "Wyandotte." There was also a one-inch tear, carefully repaired, to the right of the DC5's photo... bet you can't spot it. Also a half-inch edge tear to the left of "Sunday." Poster remains heavily toned throughout. So various and scattered imperfections to be sure, but overall presents excitingly.
