Description
Cream w/Eric Clapton 1968 New Haven, CT Farewell Tour Concert Poster. An original, colorful poster advertising Cream's show in New Haven, Connecticut on Friday, October 11, 1968. Features terrific graphics that depict the blues-rock power trio in red on a violet background, with the band's name in trippy, light green psychedelic lettering below. Lots of detailed ticket information given at the bottom, which is always fun to see. A five-color poster if you count black and white as colors; a real attention-grabber. Made on thick paper, measures 14" x 23 1/2" and grades to Very Good condition. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.More Information: At this show, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker powered through "Crossroads," "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Room" and an 18-minute version of "Spoonful," plus a few others. Then the tour was over, and they went their separate ways - but what a legacy they left behind.
Condition details: Poster has a six-inch diagonal crease in the lower right corner, which doesn't break color in the dark violet or black printing. Lower left corner has its own 1 ¼" diagonal crease as well. There's a tiny quarter-inch edge tear to the right of Eric Clapton's neck. Also a little bit of the expected light surface creasing from handling. And the verso has a blemish near the direct center. The whiteness around the three edges appears to be the way it was printed, not wear & tear (it's too uniform to be that).
