Description

SUCH A SIXTIES TIMEPIECE FROM SCANDANAVIA

Cream (Eric Clapton) 1967 Copenhagen, Denmark Psychedelic Concert Poster. An original large B&W psychedelic concert poster for supergroup Cream playing at the Falconer Salen in Copenhagen, Denmark on Sunday night, November 12 (poster says "12 No"), 1967. "SBA Presents," it states in the circle, which stood for Scandinavian Booking Agency. Features really fun, symmetrical artwork of a pretty woman on top with two bodies coming down either side of the sphere. "LOVE" is in the circle just to the right of her head.

This was the very month Cream released their second album, Disraeli Gears, which broke them through to a wide audience with such radio favorites as "Strange Brew" and "Sunshine of Your Love." It was also the only full calendar year that rock's first supergroup existed; they had formed in 1966 and broken up by the fall of 1968.

This first-ever Heritage "repeat offering" measures 20 3/8" x 28 3/8" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: This is the same poster that Heritage auctioned off last July, for over $10,000; the winning bidder decided they couldn't afford it. Thus, it remains the only specimen we've ever seen.

Poster was designed by Vibeke Vestergard, whose credit is on the artwork's bottom right margin.

Condition details: The poster itself is very clean, with just a couple of flaws: a 3/8" edge tear on the top edge, directly from the main ‘bubble' in the upper left corner area; and a very light 1 ½" horizontal crease coming in from the poster's left edge, about halfway down the poster, all in the white. There is also very light general toning throughout. On the verso, ½" of brown paper tape has been used to line the poster all the way around.
