Count Basie Autographed 1966 Waynesboro, PA Handbill. An original paper concert flyer advertising big-band great Count Basie and His Orchestra appearing at the Eagles Club in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania on Wednesday evening, June 15, 1966. As a bonus, Mr. Basie has signed this handbill in blue pen.

It's always nice when a handbill or poster is entirely an artist's rendition, even the words needed to convey information. Such is the case with this charming piece, drawn by an artist who credited himself as "Knapp" and printed in red. There's a lot of quaint wording and qualities to this, with our favorite being the menu in the lower left. Don't read it when you're hungry!

Measures 11" x 8 1/2" and grades to Very Good condition. Has two vertical creases from when it was folded down for mailing in a #10 envelope. Neither crease breaks the red color. First crease passes through the "O" in "Hagerstown" down to the left of the "Knapp 66" credit. The second crease goes through the "I" in "Basie" and between the words "for Family." There's a small quarter-inch edge tear under the aforementioned "66," surface creases from handling and general overall toning. COA from Heritage Auctions.
