Chicago (Transit Authority) & Joe Walsh 1970 Toledo University Concert Poster. An original silkscreened heavy-board concert poster for "Chicago (Transit Authority)," as they're billed here, and the James Gang featuring Joe Walsh, playing at the University of Toledo on Sunday, April 19, 1970.

A very unusual collegiate design on this piece, with the graphic artist credited as "JNsl" in the lower right corner. It paid to be a student in this case: "With Toledo University ID - $1.50; Non-students - $3.00," the limited information tells us. "SUB" at the bottom probably referred to "Student Union Board." The two bands' names are fit into an interesting human eye design here, with a somewhat psychedelic iris and pupil.

Chicago was right on the cusp of big success; their Top 5 breakthrough album Chicago (later renamed Chicago II) was near the top of Billboard's album chart. It was being propelled by the hit single "Make Me Smile," which had just entered the singles chart in early April and would become their first Top 10 hit. Meanwhile, future Eagle Joe Walsh was touring with the James Gang off their debut platter, Yer' Album.

Measures a shade over 14" x 22" and grades to Very Good condition. The dark purple on this silkscreened heavy board is very susceptible to scuffs, surface marks and white appearing all around the edges from handling and storage over the years. But the colors remain deep and rich. The white flecks due to bumps and scratches include the upper left corner area, and near the left edge by "April" and "19th." Also, all corners of this heavy board dented, but none badly; the board is very rigid and robust. COA from Heritage Auctions.
