NEAR THE END OF DYLAN'S SOLO ACOUSTIC ERA

Bob Dylan 1964 Madison, WI Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising Bob Dylan performing solo acoustic at the Orpheum Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin on Thursday night, November 19, 1964. The plain and simple design of this poster will appeal to many, and very much reflects the basics desired by Dylan and his manager Albert Grossman in advertising Bob's concerts in this era. Even "Columbia Records" at the bottom is minimalist with no logo.

Dylan's latest album was Another Side of Bob Dylan, and he was entertaining audiences with gems like "Chimes of Freedom" and "All I Really Want to Do" from that LP. But he'd already started writing his fifth album, and was wowing patrons with new songs like "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" and the spellbinding "Mr. Tambourine Man." Less than two months after this show, he'd start recording Bringing It All Back Home.

This red, yellow, black & white poster carries no printer's credit, and it's the first one any of us at Heritage has ever seen. Given its plainness and the (relatively) small town, there certainly couldn't have been many others saved - if any at all. Measures 14" x 22" and grades to repaired Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Chameleon Restoration addressed a few edge and corner issues and touching up any printing or color where necessary. The result is a majorly satisfying piece with little or no evidence of past damage. The only surface crease of note is a 3" one that goes through the "M" of "Orpheum," but it doesn't break color. The verso has mild, harmless, superficial tape lifts in a few spots.
