Description

Black Sabbath 1970 Midlands, England Earliest-Known Full Concert Poster. Ozzy fans, rejoice: Offered here is a stunning piece of Black Sabbath history with the earliest known full-sized concert poster of the band, six months before they ever stepped foot in America. This one's just ridiculously early. Sunday night, May 24, 1970... just three months after the release of their self-titled debut album. The location of Gollum's Cave - get the Lord of the Rings reference - was in Stoke-on-Trent, the next town over from their hometown of Birmingham. The general name of the area is the Midlands, famous to all for producing not only Sabbath but also Led Zeppelin.

It's a large and captivating poster - the common British size of 20" x 30" - featuring skeletons, mushrooms and at least a couple of future stars. We're talking of course about Marc Bolan and the future T. Rex appearing one week after Sabbath did. With really fun white-on-black graphics, this will delight any fans of the band historians credit as the Godfathers of heavy metal. As far as we know, there's only one earlier Sabbath poster than this, and it's more like a large handbill. This rare gem measures 29 7/8" x 20" and grades to Very Good condition.

More Information: Condition details: Has fold marks throughout, with edge wear, scratching and creasing in various spots.
