Billie Holiday 1957 Carnegie Hall Jazz Flyer w/Original Mailing Envelope An original paper handbill for Billie Holiday live at Carnegie Hall in NYC along with a stellar cast consisting of Ray Charles, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Chet Baker, Sonny Rollins and Zoot Sims, along with the original mailing envelope clearly postmarked "Nov. 21, 1957." Notice how the Morningside Community Center gets prominent mention on the handbill (fourth box down), and is also where the mailing envelope originated from.We singled this out as a Billie Holiday concert item simply because her material is so rare, given her early death in 1959. But obviously, hundreds of words could be written about each of these supremely talented musicians, especially since it's from the 1950's when concert ephemera was rarely saved. Thus, this is the very first specimen of this attractive handbill that Heritage has ever had the pleasure of offering.
Measures 6 1/2 x 10 1/2" and is in Near Mint Minus condition with its original fold marks long since flattened out. COA from Heritage Auctions.
