Description

BGP-90 Nirvana 1993 Oakland, CA Concert Poster Graded Near Mint 9.8. Housed in plastic with a CGC strip up top, this beauty of a Nirvana poster was for their New Year's Eve show at the Oakland Coliseum. With actor/comedian Robert Francis "Bobcat" Goldthwait (best known from the Police Academy film series) as the MC, the support acts were the Butthole Surfers and Chokebore. Touring behind the In Utero album, the Nirvana story would end tragically a few months later following the suicide of Kurt Cobain in April. With artwork by Harry Rossit, this original poster is in Near Mint/Mint condition with a rare CGC rating of 9.8. Poster itself measures 13" x 19" and with the plastic, it measures 15" x 21".

Nirvana was still a powerhouse live act in 1993. Now with former Germs guitarist Pat Smear adding a crucial rhythm guitar to their sound, they played a healthy mix of songs from their three proper LPs throughout this tour. Though In Utero was not as commercially polished as Nevermind, the album was another big-seller and the video for "Heart Shaped Box" was a regular on MTV at the time. Unlike the first jaunt in support of Nevermind to overpacked clubs and bars, the US tour behind In Utero was in arenas and convention halls that could accommodate large crowds.
