BG-75 The Doors, Yardbirds 1967 Fillmore Concert Poster Signed by Bonnie MacLean, Graded 9.6. First-printing San Francisco concert poster for the Doors, the Yardbirds, the James Cotton Blues Band and Richie Havens playing at the Fillmore Auditorium over six nights (each headliner taking three nights) in late July 1967. This poster represents perfect timing for Doors fans, as "Light My Fire" entered the #1 spot in Billboard this very week.

Known as BG-75 in the Bill Graham numbered series, this poster was designed by Bonnie MacLean and was signed by her in the lower right corner. It was subsequently graded a fire-lighting 9.6 Near Mint Plus by CGC (the Certified Guaranty Company). One of the most popular Fillmore posters of the 60's, it measures 14 1/4" x 21 1/4". More Information: The Yardbirds' commercial success was mostly behind them by now, but ironically their most recent album was a Greatest Hits collection that was their highest-charting LP ever. Jeff Beck had departed the year before so it was Jimmy Page's band now. And in fact, their final studio album, Little Games, was released this very month, July 1967, but barely caused a ripple. But it did contain Page's guitar instrumental "White Summer," which would become a Led Zeppelin staple. Combined with "Black Mountain Side," Zep literally performed it throughout their entire career.

Second-billed James Cotton brought an amazing pedigree to the scene, which must have had Jimmy Page bowing down in respect. He not only played the harmonica in Howlin' Wolf's band in the early 1950's, he also played with Muddy Waters in his Chicago group after that. In 1967 he formed the James Cotton Blues Band and eventually toured with Janis Joplin; Cotton appeared as the opening act on many of her 1969 posters. The band mainly performed its own arrangements of popular blues and R&B from the 1950's and 60's.

Richie Havens needs no introduction, especially to the Woodstock generation. He'll always be remembered as the opening act at the Woodstock Music Festival in August 1969, and therefore the first musician to hit the screen in the movie we've all seen. At this point the interpretive singer-songwriter was promoting his latest,Mixed Bag, on Verve Folkways. Havens was managed by Bob Dylan's manager, Albert Grossman, opening many doors for him. In fact, Mixed Bag featured a soulful rendition of Dylan's "Just Like a Woman," along with "High Flyin' Bird," "San Francisco Bay Blues" and the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby."

And then there's the Doors. What can you say about the Los Angeles group whose world-beating second single, "Light My Fire," entered the #1 position in Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart this very week and stayed on top for three weeks. Their debut LP The Doors was sitting in the national Top 10 as well. Covering the band's opening Friday night show from this poster, the San Francisco Chronicle's John L. Wasserman wrote, "The best of all was their hit ‘Light My Fire.' Friday night they did [it for] about 10 minutes and it still seemed too short."
