    Description

BG-68 The Who, "Jim Hendrix" 1967 Fillmore Auditorium Concert Poster. First-printing San Francisco concert poster for The Who and the Loading Zone playing at the Fillmore Auditorium on Friday and Saturday nights, June 16 and 17, 1967, the very same weekend the Monterey Pop Festival was happening two hours to the south. Designed by Bonnie MacLean, this poster is known as BG-68 in the Bill Graham numbered poster series. Has the very unusual feature of previewing the following week's bands, and among them is the third-billed "Jim [sic] Hendrix," literally the last words on the poster. When this poster was printed, he was a nobody; after Sunday evening June 18, he was a star. And then Tuesday-Saturday he played for Bill Graham (BG-69, and this time spelled correctly). Measures 14 1/8" x 20" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: One pinhole in each corner, and a fifth one in the orange, right off the purple, about two inches straight up from the "San" next to "Tickets." Slight white printer's flaws, just dots, appear twice in the upper right in the orange, in the "R" of "Fillmore," by "thru" in the lower right corner, and twice under "Palo" at the very bottom. These are common and not considered damage. On the verso, there's 1 ½" of light brown toning across the top, and a pair of 3" x 1" smooth white pieces of tape which were used in framing.
