BG-67 The Doors 1967 Fillmore Auditorium Concert Poster Graded 9.8. First-and-only printing San Francisco concert poster for The Doors and the Jim Kweskin Jug Band playing at the Fillmore Auditorium on Friday and Saturday nights, June 9 & 10, 1967. Designed by Bonnie MacLean and known as BG-67 in the Bill Graham numbered series, this poster was graded a sublime 9.8 Near Mint/Mint by CGC (the Certified Guaranty Company).

This key poster has many interesting backstories to it. It marks the first time Jim Morrison & Co. headlined the Fillmore. This was also the month "Light My Fire" entered Billboard magazine's Hot 100 singles chart, so the band was ascending rapidly. This was the fifth poster designed by Bill Graham's business sidekick and love interest MacLean, who stepped in after Wes Wilson quit in a dispute. And to top it all off, it's the same weekend MacLean and Graham got married... on Sunday, June 11. (They would have one son, David, the following year, and then eventually divorce in the mid-70's.)

More Information: The Doors' follow-up single to "Light My Fire" was "People Are Strange," and Bonnie's poster artwork certainly seems to reflect that (although it's unlikely she had any idea). Notice the pink portion is one big bird, with its body firmly clutching all of the artwork within – including at least 10 "strange" faces.

The Jim Kweskin Jug Band was a big part of the folk-blues revival of the early 60's. Besides Kweskin, the Vanguard Records act featured two additional musicians of note, Geoff and Maria Muldaur. The married couple would eventually move to Woodstock, NY in the early 70's, and separate in 1972. Geoff joined Paul Butterfield's Better Days band, and Maria scored a smash hit with "Midnight at the Oasis" in 1974. Maria is now 80 and Geoff is 79, and both are still with us. In fact, so is Kweskin at 83.
