    Description

Beatles Liverpool Jazz Society Handbill (March 15, 1961) from the Collection of Cavern Club Compere Bob Wooler. A 5.25" x 7.25" buff-colored handbill for "Swinging Lunch Time Rock Sessions" at this venue on Temple Street formerly (and later) known as the Iron Door Club. The resident bands as: Gerry and the Pacemakers, Rory Storm and the Wild Ones, and The Big Three. At the bottom, it lists a special Wednesday afternoon five-hour session starring The Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and Rory Storm and the Wild Ones. On this March 15th date, the Beatles played this venue for the fourth time, leaving their ninth lunchtime performance at the Cavern Club to go straight over there for a 2:00 set. This event, promoted by Sam Leach, was important in Beatle history in that this was one of Stu Sutcliffe's last-ever Liverpool performances with the group and that Ringo Starr appeared on the bill with Rory Storm. Fine condition.
