B.B. King, Big Joe Turner 1969 Jumbo Globe Los Angeles Concert Poster. An original vintage cardboard window card advertising the "King of the Blues," B.B. King, and the "Boss of the Blues," Joe Turner, in a "Soul Festival" concert in Long Beach, California on Sunday evening, July 13, 1969. This was the year of B.B. King's signature song, "The Thrill Is Gone," his only Top 20 pop hit.

Both headliners were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Measures 22" x 35 1/4" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: "The Thrill Is Gone" helped catapult B.B. into the mainstream media of the early 70's, including television appearances, FM radio play and sharing the stage with rock bands. In fact, in November of this year, B.B. would tour with no less than the Rolling Stones. Big Joe Turner, of course, was the legend behind "Shake, Rattle & Roll" in the 1950s, and had a long and enduring career.

The esteemed Globe Posters out of Baltimore, MD printed this large poster using their trademark red and yellow Day-Glo inks which come alive under a purple blacklight. Take a look at our additional image here, shot under that blacklight... wow, what a fun effect!

All five talents have their pictures on the poster, the top three get song titles, and ticket-buying locations are given at the bottom. Another legend, radio DJ Wolfman Jack, was the Master of Ceremonies.

Condition details: Pinholes in each corner and the typical corner creases as well, two of them dog-eared. Creasing and scratching break the black color in "Long Beach Arena" at the top. There's a light scratch all the way through B.B.'s face, just missing his eye. Top center margin has a ding, crease and possible small tear. Wear & tear break the black color in tiny spots in the first "B." and the "N" and "G" in the headliner's name; likewise with the "J," "N" and both "E's" in "Joe Turner." Same with "Wolfman" and the "E" in "Delicates." Four small dots of white paint on the Delicates' photo. General toning throughout.
