Description
Andre Williams, Laura Lee, John Roberts Jumbo Concert Posters (2). Two original cardboard window cards advertising a pair of R&B line-ups in the late 1960's in different parts of the country.The first one was used to sell tickets for Andre Williams, Laura Lee and Monk Higgins appearing at the Sunset Ballroom in Chicago, IL on Saturday, September 2, 1967. Williams was the veteran with a Top 10 R&B hit to his credit a decade earlier; Lee's "Dirty Man" was a hit this very year.
This window card measures 22" x 28" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. The main issue is a one-inch vertical tear up from the bottom margin, into the "E" of "Sunset," and a three-inch diagonal crease going off to the left of it. Poster has a few other light surface creases which don't break color, and gently bumped corners.
The second poster sold tickets for John Roberts and Patience Valentine performing at the Harvest Club in Beaumont, Texas on Friday, June 21, 1968. They were backed by the Phase Four Band.
This board measures 22" x 28" and grades to Near Mint Minus condition, with only small bumps & creases to three of the four corners, overall toning, and some extra browning along the entire left edge. COA from Heritage Auctions.
