Aerosmith, Electric Flag, New York Dolls 1974 Decatur, IL Concert Poster. A poster jam packed with acts playing a minor league baseball stadium in a central Illinois town. Decatur was known where Abraham Lincoln lived and delivered his first political speech. But this was the 1970s, where the touring circuit was more about the small towns throughout America. And this poster reflects that, having a stage shared by Electric Flag, Aerosmith, and the New York Dolls.

Aerosmith was on tour promoting their second album, Get Your Wings. With the single "Same Old Song and Dance," the Boston-based quintet had found their footing working with producer Jack Douglas. (The band's fortunes would continue to rise throughout the rest of the decade.) R.E.O Speedwagon was on its fourth album, and a ways away from their blockbuster success later in the decade. And the New York Dolls were wrapping up their first era with the ironically titled second album, Too Much Too Soon. Happy to flirt with wearing makeup and women's clothes, the group was highly touted (and influential), but their record sales at the time said otherwise.

The Electric Flag was a blues supergroup made of guitarist Mike Bloomfield and drummer Buddy Miles and numerous other luminaries. Recording the soundtrack for The Trip and two proper studio LPs in the late 1960s, the band split. Reuniting for the 1974 album The Band Kept Playing, the group broke up later in the year. (Bloomfield died in 1981.)

Measures 17" x 22 1/2" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. The verso shows four exceedingly mellow horizontal remnants, but you can't call them creases or folds, they're just gentle and rolling and most importantly, indistinguishable on the front. There is a vertical crease of about six inches in the left white margin, and mild creases in the four corners - this is really mellow stuff we're talking about. Also the tiniest amount of light brown foxing in a couple of spots. COA from Heritage Auctions.
