DescriptionAaliyah / Run-D.M.C. / Outkast / 2 Live Crew 1997 Jacksonville Concert Poster. A poster for a great night of R&B and hip-hop acts, presented by 92.7 the Beat in Jacksonville, Florida. Made by Globe Poster Printing Corp, the pink, blue, and black cram as much information into one poster, as they had done for decades.
Under the moniker of Flava Fest II, this performance was hosted by Dr. Dre (listed as "Dre" to not be confused with Andre "Dr. Dre" Young) and Ed Lover from Yo! MTV Raps. Headlined by the artist born Aaliyah Dana Haughton, her work as a solo artist had a big breakthrough with her debut LP, Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. Her second album, One in a Million, was released in 1996. She would sadly pass away in 2001 in a plane crash.
Run-DMC, a hip-hop trio Public Enemy's Chuck D. would decree as important as the Beatles for the hip-hop community, was in between the albums Down With the King and Crown Royal. Also of note is a very young Outkast. Long before the duo was the heralded "Ms. Jackson" and "Hey Ya!" duo, they were in between ATLiens and Aquemini. And 2 Live Crew had continued to be as explicit as they wanted to be, releasing the albums Shake a Lil' Somethin' and The Real One as the 1990s ended. Led by Luther Campbell, the group caught a lot of heat in 1989 with their debut LP, which included their signature tune, "Me So Horny." Featured towards the bottom of the listing is Redman, who was from the Wu-Tang Clan.
Measures 22" x 33". Printed on thick paper. Has "100 / Saturn" written with a felt tip on verso. In Very Good Plus condition with light wear and some toning spots on the left side. COA from Heritage Auctions.
